Eric Clapprood

Eric Clapprood has been with Deloitte since 2009 and became a Principal in 2012. He leads Enterprise Risk Management for the $30B+ (annual revenue) U.S. firm. Additionally, he is the Lead Consulting Partner and global actuarial audit leader for one of Deloitte’s largest clients.

Eric has been the Lead Consulting Partner for several other large clients. He was a Sr. Contracting Partner for many years, overseeing many of the largest, most complex, global contracting efforts of the firm. He was the COO of one of Deloitte Consulting’s businesses for several years. For ten years, he led the Risk, Capital & Regulatory practice, a 50-person team delivering risk management, capital management and regulatory-advice services to clients. He has delivered complex transformational, strategic, operating model, hedging, capital optimization and technology-implementation projects for some of Deloitte’s largest clients. He has held leadership roles in DEI, Marketing and several other areas at Deloitte.

Prior to Deloitte, Eric spent fifteen years in the financial services industry, mostly as an executive at large, public insurance companies, running functions that included pricing, valuation, investments, risk management, capital management, product, marketing and strategy.

Eric has an aerospace engineering degree from Brown University. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Certified Enterprise Risk Analyst. He has published a thesis on interest rate risk management and holds two patents for financial risk management systems he invented and developed. Eric and his wife have two grown children, and live in Connecticut.

Eric has over thirty years of volunteer experience, including five years as a firefighter; twelve years on Little League and Travel Basketball boards; over a decade with UConn boards; a decade with the MetroHartford Alliance board; and over a dozen years with the $500M (equity) Greater Hartford YMCA, including as its Board Chair.
