The 2018 Rebuild Math Classrooms Impact Report

June 27, 2018

In the fall of 2017, Florida was ravaged by hurricanes Irma and Maria, causing destruction to many south and central Florida communities. Local schools were not immune to this destruction and the lives of students and families in the hurricanes’ paths were heavily disrupted.

The Actuarial Foundation implemented the Rebuild Math Classrooms effort to help schools affected by natural disasters. Raising over $60,000 from the U.S. actuarial community, the Foundation partnered with the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations (CFEF) to help teachers, students and schools replace lost resources, such as graphing calculators. Eight CFEF-member local education foundations requested and received support, ultimately impacting over 2,000 students. “We were delighted to be able to work with The Actuarial Foundation to provide students and schools support during a tough time,” said Mary Chance, president of the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations.
