Hi, I’m Vo Nguyen, underwriter turned math teacher. In a series of Q&A video blogs, I’d like to share my journey with you about how and why I got involved with The Actuarial Foundation’s Modeling the Future Challenge.

How long have you been an educator, what is your story on how you came to be a math teacher and why was math your subject of choice?

I have been a professional educator since 2015. I began my road as a teacher in the summer of 2015 when I attended a church meeting called Careers in Motions. There I was encouraged to find a purposeful career that will grow my faith. Deep down, I had a lifelong dream of being a teacher and giving back to my community. I chose to be a math teacher because math was my favorite subject that I felt could have the most impact on my students’ careers and success.
