The Actuarial Foundation’s Math Motivators Tutoring Program Receives $15,000 Grant from Spencer Educational Foundation

The Actuarial Foundation's Math Motivators Tutoring Program

Schaumburg, IL, February 15, 2024 –The Actuarial Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on igniting a passion for math in young people, has received a generous grant from the Spencer Educational Foundation. Their grant supports Math Motivators, a free tutoring program for students in underserved communities that supports learning and understanding mathematics, opening the door to college and career opportunities.

Launched in 2016, the award-winning Math Motivators Tutoring Program has reached thousands of students nationwide. Through this program, two students are paired with an actuary or actuarial students with strong mathematics backgrounds who generously volunteer their time. This model has proven successful in fostering relationships between the student and volunteer that facilitate problem-solving, encourage math discourse, and provide students with mentors interested in their success.

The Spencer Educational Foundation’s generous grant will help students master mathematical concepts and improve their grades, setting them on a course for future success.
